Economic Empowerment
With a history that dates back to 1910, the National Urban League is the nation’s oldest and largest community based movement devoted to empowering African Americans to enter and succeed in the social and economic mainstream.
As part of this powerful movement, since 1990, the Northern Virginia Urban League has been committed to advocating for African Americans and disadvantaged others a commitment reflected in the programs, services and resources we provide to our community. By addressing the needs of our youth, elderly, minorities and low-income residents, we help others secure economic self-reliance, parity, power and civil rights.
From conducting job training and financial education seminars, to providing college, scholarships and adolescent prevention services, the work we do changes lives. Our mission to close the equality gap through economic and social empowerment for African Americans remains a legacy that we are committed to fulfilling for the success of present and future generations.
