College Survival 101
College Survival 101 is an annual college preparation seminar conducted by the Northern Virginia Urban League Young Professionals Network. Each year, high school juniors and seniors are invited to attend this daylong event comprised of three workshops covering postsecondary academics, financial awareness and social life. There is also a special workshop for parents to address the parental role in a student’s transition to college.
Following the series of workshops, students and parents enjoy a luncheon and guest speaker who emphasizes the importance of education, scholarship and service. Each year, a raffle is held to give away one or more $500 book scholarships to an eligible participant.
